First Contact Practitioner (FCP) role within the UK ARRS (Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme):
What is a First Contact Practitioner (FCP)?
Have muscle or joint pain? You don’t need to see a GP first!
You can now book directly with a First Contact Practitioner (FCP) for conditions like back pain, neck pain, sprains, or joint issues.
An FCP is a highly trained physiotherapist who specialises in musculoskeletal (MSK) problems. They can:
- Assess your condition
- Give expert advice and exercises
- Refer you for further tests or treatments if needed
- Help you avoid unnecessary delays
How to book:
Look for appointment slots titled “Musculoskeletal Assessment” on our online booking system (NHS App or Patient Access)– no need to speak to a GP first. Or book with one of our reception team.
Appointments are generally available within a week and are available at both our Ponteland and Wylam surgery.
